The CHA group at NUI Galway is designing and implementing mathematical algorithms for studying homological properties of discrete algebraic structures such as groups, monoids, Lie algebras and homotopy types. The group is undertaking several projects (represented by blue nodes in the following graph) and plans to undertake further projects (represented by pink nodes) which make use of, and enhance, existing symbolic software such as GAP, Polymake, CoCoA and Singular. It is planned eventually to use the Haskell functional language for easy distributed computations. (A development version of software in the blue nodes can be downloaded here.)

The CHA group has also recently started investigations in the area of Topological Data Analysis, guided by Timothy Porter (SFI Walton Visitor November 2007 - April 2008).
